Overview: This
course explains network and application technologies and capabilities enabling
detection and location determination of entities such as mobile cellular
phones. The course attendee will obtain a great understanding of network
element function and interaction to enable law enforcement personnel and
homeland security officials to detect, position, and track the whereabouts of
target entities. The course attendee
will receive an excellent foundation in support of the design and
implementation of presence detection, location determination, and entity
tracking system functionality and requirements for law enforcement and homeland
security.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of the workshop the student will be able to:

the principles and methods for identifying the presence of entities,
capturing and managing presence information
- Understand
the benefits and limitations of each presence detection and location

- Identify
the law enforcement and homeland security applications using presence and
location information as well as the application-to-network interfaces and
interactions

Prerequisites: Basic
understanding of wireless and/or cellular communications is helpful but not
necessary
